The Coptic community in Egypt is one of the oldest surviving Christian groups in the world. The Coptic church is now a minority group in Egypt, but it is thriving and more and more men and women are joining monastic communities. The exhibition explores the history and role of the Coptic Church and the various types of monastic communities with aid of monastic garments from novices to bishops. All of the outfits and garments on display were either worn or made by members of various monastic communities in Egypt.
- Contents: The exhibition includes six outfits for monks, nuns, and priests, as well as garments and accessories associated with the Coptic Church. In addition there are photographs and a text explaining the background history and modern situation of the Coptic monastic communities.
